Things to do in Birmingham
There is much to do and see in Birmingham. The place is alive and kicking
at weekends with a great nightlife atmosphere. There are great theatres,
museums, galleries, shops, bars and restaurants to keep the tourist and
the local native entertained. Whether you want to go clubbing at the Sanctuary
in Digbeth, or you are bringing the family to Bournville for a day out,
you will always enjoy yourself.
The newly developed area in Birmingham is the canal network near the
Brindley Place. There are many bars and restaurants around this area,
with nightclubs that will stay open well into the night. The ICC and the
National Indoor Arena are situated in this part of town also. The ICC
hosts many conferences and conventions of international importance, whereas
the NIA is more of a venue designed for major sporting events, pop concerts
and TV programmes.
There is also the Ikon Art Gallery here in Brindley Place. It holds a
collection of contemporary works. For a more
refined classical experience, head down to the Symphony Hall, which is
located on Broad Street and the Hall has the best acoustics in Europe.
The Birmingham Symphony Orchestra makes its home here.
