Museums and Parks in Birmingham
Edgbaston is where the university area is located. There are some great
student bars around here. The Barber Institute of Fine Arts is located
here where an intimate collection of works from the famous artists of
the world, like Renoir, Van Gogh, and Monet are all on show. The Gallery
is free and is worth a visit. On a regular basis, the Barber Institute
also hosts some great Opera as well as chamber music concerts on its premises.
The Midlands Arts Centre is also located at Edgbaston, and inside is a
cinema, 6 galleries, as well as three performance stages for all aspects
of culture and art representing the Midlands. This centre is set in the
beautiful Cannon Hill Park, which is a great place to bring the whole
family.
Hockley has a reputation as a jewellery district, with lots of jewellers
trading in the area. There is also a jewellery museum in the area that
houses some great sapphires and diamonds. The club scene in Hockley is
thriving with some great clubs like the Jam House and the Venue. There
are also some great bars around the area.
The (NEC) National Exhibition Centre is reputed to be the largest exhibition
space in England and hosts some great shows each year. Many of the world's
best entertainers and superstars from the world of music would play to
thousands of fans here. Also the NEC is the home of famous Crufts dog
show, which attracts worldwide audiences. The Clothes Shows is also held
here and is considered the largest fashion event on the planet.
