More Tours of Birmingham
Bournville is the home of the famous Cadburys Chocolate World. The children
will love Cadbury World, and you can take one of the organised tours,
where you will learn about the history of the famous Cadbury chocolate
bars. The village is a real Quaker style village and the exhibitions will
mention the social reforms and the big part that Cadburys played in helping
this great city survive throughout the years.
There are also displays about where the cocoa originated from and describes
the whole chocolate making production process in great detail. One also
is given lots of free samples of chocolate to nibble on, and if you want
more chocolate on your way out, there is a special discount chocolate
shop to get in more supplies at very reasonable prices. The kids will
be truly entertained, and the adults will sneak the odd few extra bars
into their large pockets. To get to the Chocolate World, either take the
train or bus to the Bournville Station and signposts will direct you from
there.
The National Sea Life Centre, which is located at Brindley Place, is not
far from Broad Street. This centre is ideal to show kids what is inside
the big blue ocean. The Sea Life centre cost the city around £5 million
pounds and is composed of touch pools and an aquarium that has a great
diverse range of sea life. Many of the fish tanks would be filled with
stingrays, flat fish, sharks, tropical fish and lots more. There is also
a fantastic 360 degrees glass tunnel that will give you the feeling that
you are standing in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, where one can see
sharks just over your head. The local bus can be taken to Broad Street
where you can embark and just ask one of the locals to point in the direction
of the Sea Life Centre. It is easy to find.
